Restore Your Smile

The Personalized Care
You Deserve
Have you lost teeth due to trauma, decay, or periodontal disease? Do you find yourself hiding your smile because you have missing teeth? Dental implants can restore the health, function, and appearance of your smile. At Manteca Dental Care, Dr. Rick Van Tran is proud to offer implant placement and restoration to help patients feel confident in their smiles!

What is a dental implant?

The implant is a titanium post that is surgically inserted into the gums where the root of the missing tooth used to be. The post serves as the root of the prosthetic tooth. During a process called osseointegration, the root fuses to the jawbone over the course of a few months, creating a secure foundation for the abutment and custom crown restoration that are placed over the implant. At this point, the prosthetic tooth will look like and function as a natural tooth.

Why should you replace missing teeth?

When left unaddressed, gaps in the smile can cause the teeth surrounding the gap to shift, creating misalignments. These misalignments can leave the gums more vulnerable to periodontal disease. In addition, missing teeth can make it more difficult to chew and speak properly, and may cause a sunken appearance in the facial profile. You may experience more wear on the remaining teeth, which need to work harder to compensate for the missing tooth/teeth. The jaw bone where the missing tooth used to be may begin to deteriorate, creating bone loss. Dental implants help prevent all of these complications.

What are the benefits of dental implants?

Unlike dentures, dental implants are permanent tooth replacement options, so you don’t need to worry about them falling out. Unlike bridges, an implant does not require preparation of the surrounding teeth, therefore promoting the smile’s integrity. Dental implants can last for a lifetime and help create a natural, beautiful smile, improving your confidence.

Patients must have sufficient jaw bone and be non-smokers to be candidates for dental implants. Want to know more about this procedure and if it is right for you? Contact our office in Manteca, CA, today at 209-823-9218 for more information and to schedule an appointment!
